The XIII Moscow Easter Festival has braken the records

The XIII Moscow Easter Festival has made its way into the history of Russia as the unprecedented cultural event due to the density of its events, geographical coverage and the highest artistic level: in 26 days Symphony Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, “Stradivarius Ensemble” and Brass Quintet of the Mariinsky Theatre under the direction of Valery Gergiev has performed 43 concerts in 26 cities of Russia from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok and from Murmansk to Volgograd.

The musicians were moved by the special train of Moscow Easter Festival, while in North-West and Far East of the country – by aircrafts.

The only day-off, April 26, was spent by musicians at one of the most beautiful places on the planet – at the lake Baikal.

In each cityValery Gergiev conducted a press-conference, the main themes of conversations with journalists and regional authorities were the necessity to create own children's choir in every region of Russia and the issue of construction of new concert halls and musical theaters  following examples set by Omsk, Novosibirsk, Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok.

The XIII Moscow Easter Festival was held with the support of Moscow Government, the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Orthodox Church and Russian Ministry of defense.

Dedicated to the 100-th anniversary of the First World War, the festival for the first time has involved the teams of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in its programmes. The main principles of the festival: charity, education, enlightenment and patriotism have remained to be the constant parts of the festival.

The choral programme of the XIII season was presented to listeners by the best teams from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Finland, Czech Republic, Greece, Slovakia and Germany. According to tradition, in collaboration with the Charity Fund "Church and culture" Children's Easter celebration has taken place, too.

Under the auspices of Moscow Easter Festival the V Children's Easter festival “Singing Rus” was held at the museum-reserve "Kolomenskoye". As part of the Festival chamber programme, the leading soloists from the Academy of Young Opera Singers of Mariinsky Theatre have presented "The Hits of Russian and Western Europe opera music, romances, songs" in nine Russian cities.

The bell-ringing part of the festival programme in 2014 has involved more than 30 churches of  Moscow, Moscow region, Staritsy and St. Petersburg.
